Glass Safety and Training

Glass safety and training is a 2 hour course to become a Uniquely Yours Pottery and Glass certified glass master. The class includes instruction on:

• The products and types of glass we carry
• Tool names and uses
• How to build your own projects
• Color theory
• Time to create a 1-2” project (pendant, magnet or key fob) with staff guidance

Upon completion of our two hour class you will receive your “Glass Master” card which allows you to come in and create whenever you please! Please check the calendar for class dates. This class is held several times a month. If you have a group of 3 or more and would like to schedule a class, please contact us.

July Classes

Terra Cotta Pots
(07/21, 2 PM - 4 PM)

Turn a plain terra cotta pot into a masterpiece. Using our supplies you can beautify a pot to sit out on the patio or in the living room. Take a break from Spring gardening to paint a pot for your favorite plant… or your favorite Aunt!

Glass Votive Candle Holder
(07/27, 2 PM - 4 PM)

The simple 6x6 glass tile can be turned into a beautiful candle holder. Come and take this project-based glass class and get all of the benefits of glass instruction with a larger project at the end! This is our best bargain of the summer and, it will be BEAUTIFUL!

8" x 8"  Glass Trivet
(07/22, 5 PM - 7 PM)

This modern-art inspired glass trivet is a perfect no-cut, no-tools, glass project. Come in and use our pre-cut pieces to create your own design.

Advanced Glass Class
(07/29, 6 PM - 8 PM)

Advanced Glass Class is a blast! Learn about inclusions, how to make beads, planned bubbles, and glass etching techniques. We can’t wait for you glass artists to learn more techniques! Pre-requisite: Glass Safety and Training

Doodle Bowls
(07/18, 10 AM - 12 PM)

Are you a doodler? Love to sit and draw swirls, whirls and geometric shapes? Have a polka-dot fixation? Then, this project is for you. You’ll create a bowl using all of the shapes and spots that you can imagine. Great for “kids” of all ages. Join us for some directed fun and start your summer off with a doodle bowl! (Kids age 8+)

Glass Sushi Plate
(07/17, 6 PM - 8 PM)

Sushi is delicious, stylish and elegant. Create the perfect glass plate to go with your favorite Asian delight. You build it, we’ll fuse it and you will have a wonderful art glass piece for your home or as a gift.

Available Classes

Interested in taking a class, but it's not scheduled? We'll schedule a class for any group of three or more at your convenience. Get your friends together or check with the front desk to sign up on the waiting list. Just call or e-mail the store and let us know. Payment for the class must be made at the time of scheduling. 

Mosaic Mirror Class

Use broken pieces of pottery that have already been glazed to create a design all your own. We can even transfer a picture and have you “color” it with pottery shards! You will start this project in the store and finish it at home. Class fee includes all materials necessary to complete this project.

Glass Mosaic Animals

The lizards and frogs are here! We have a bunch of scrap glass and other mosaic pieces just to make your critter come alive. Join us to make a great wall hanging! Appropriate for kids or adults.

Stepping Stones

This 9”x9” mosaic stepping stone will be a great piece of art for your garden. Add it to your front walk or feature it in your flowers. Your imagination is the only limitation to this project! This project is appropriate for all ages (under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult).

Make your Own Travel Games

“Are we there yet?” “Mom, I’m bored…it’s raining” Two phrases we NEVER want to hear again on a summer trip. Create these portable and reusable travel games to supplement your bag of tricks. AND, reduce your carbon footprint by creating something that can be used many times.

Reticulated Glass Plate

This plate is a true piece of art. Controlled breaking of glass and particular placement yields a product that no one will believe you made yourself.  Come and make a stunning piece for serving or decoration.

Photo Mosaic

A simple two-step process will turn a favorite photo into a delightful treat.  Start this great mosaic project with us here at the store and then take it home to finish it the next day.  Class fee does not include the photo which YOU must provide!  Photos must be professionally printed and NOT from an ink jet printer.  Please bring standard 4x6 photos for this project. (Also for kids 8+.)

Glass Basket Weave Platter 

This lovely glass basket will be a great addition to your summer serving ware.   Use it as decorative or functional, whatever the purpose it’ll be great fun to make!  (Shape is not limited to circles.)
